In 2022, only 44% of young adults aged 18 to 24 from low-income families enrolled in postsecondary education, compared to 79% of their peers from higher-income households. This gap highlights the significant barriers to education and opportunity faced by those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Health and Wellness

In 2022-2023, children from the lowest-income households (below 100% of the poverty level) faced an alarming obesity rate of 24.1%, more than double the 10.4% rate seen in children from the highest-income families (above 400% of the poverty level). Unstable home environments contribute to unhealthy eating habits and increased obesity risks among vulnerable youth.

Financial Education

Research indicates a significant correlation between low income and higher rates of domestic violence. Women in the lowest income bracket experience domestic violence at a rate nearly three times higher than those in the highest income bracket.

Financial Education

Financial Education

Only 12% of girls feel very confident making personal financial decisions, with one-third of the gender gap in financial literacy attributed to confidence levels. The absence of parental support, particularly in low-income households, significantly hampers a child's financial literacy development.
